DigiParser REST API

# Your application sends the file.
DigiParser does the extraction.

Build document processing into your backend. Upload to a parser or classifier, attach your external reference, and retrieve extracted fields and tables for the next step.

API route overview

POST /api/v1/process/files
POST /api/v1/process/urls

Destination:
  parserId OR classifierId

Authentication:
  Authorization header

Use the API reference for request bodies and authentication syntax.

## Connect each result to the system that sent the file.

Include your external reference when uploading a document. Retrieve the structured output after processing and use that reference to connect it to your records.

1. 1Upload the file to the selected parser.
2. 2Include the external reference from your system.
3. 3Retrieve the processed document and its extracted data.

## Choose extraction or classification at intake

### Upload to a parser

Use parserId when the documents share an extraction schema. You can route parser uploads to a folder and attach external IDs or custom data.

### Upload to a classifier

Use classifierId when documents need routing by type first. The classifier selects the extraction parser. Folder IDs are not supported for classifier uploads.

For the current upload endpoints, provide exactly one of parserId or classifierId. Use the file endpoint for binary files and the URL endpoint for downloadable documents.

## Keep your system's reference with the document

Useful upload context

Value

Why include it

External ID

Find a document by your own reference

Custom data

Carry a client code or source-system context

Folder ID for parser uploads

Organize intake by client or workflow

Parser or classifier ID

Choose the processing destination

Example - an internal order application

1. 01Backend receives a customer PO
2. 02Upload with external reference
3. 03Extraction and required review
4. 04Read results or receive a webhook
5. 05Your app updates its sales workflow

## Start with a limited API key

1. 01

    ### Create a team API key

Open the team menu -> API Keys. Choose only the actions and parsers or classifiers this integration needs.

2. 02

    ### Get the destination ID

Find the parser ID in Parser Settings -> General Settings, or the classifier ID in Classifier Settings -> General.

3. 03

    ### Submit a file or URL

Call the documented upload endpoint with the Authorization header and exactly one destination ID. Use the request format in the API reference.

4. 04

    ### Track and retrieve the result

Use parser document endpoints to retrieve extracted data by document ID or external ID. Use classifier document endpoints to inspect routing outcomes.

5. 05

    ### Connect the next action

Use your backend logic or a verified webhook receiver to process the completed result. Keep review and failure handling explicit.

## The API covers more than uploads

### Parser configuration

Create and manage parsers, safe settings, fields, tables, and classifier routing within the key's permissions.

### Document operations

Search, organize, rename, reprocess, and export documents. Read processed output and inspect failed or skipped classifier documents.

### Reviews and delivery

Work with reviewers and approvals, export JSON/XML/CSV/XLSX, and manage parser webhook endpoints where authorized.

## Choose the right developer interface

Use REST API keys for backend systems and scripts. Use the [MCP server](/docs/api/mcp) for supported AI clients through OAuth. Use [webhooks](/integrations/webhooks) when your system should receive document results.
