Upload documents to your parser for data extraction

Uploading Documents

You upload documents to a parser’s Document Inbox so DigiParser can extract the data you defined in Fields & Tables. Uploads can go to the main inbox or to a folder, and you can optionally split large PDFs during upload.

Where to upload

  1. Open your parser and go to the Document Inbox.
  2. Click Upload Documents (top right). A drawer opens with the upload area.
  3. Drag and drop files onto the upload zone, or click the zone to choose files from your computer.

You can also add documents via email (parser inbox address), the Embed Widget, or the API. See Processing via Email, Integrations, and the API Reference.

Supported file types

You can upload:

  • PDF
  • Images: PNG, JPEG/JPG
  • Office: Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx)
  • Text: Markdown, plain text, CSV, HTML, JSON, XML

Use clear, readable files for better extraction. Very low‑resolution scans or blurry photos can reduce accuracy.

Upload options

Upload to a folder

Before dropping files, use Upload to folder (optional) in the upload drawer:

  • Choose Upload to folder (optional) to keep documents in the main inbox.
  • Pick a folder to send uploads into that folder.
  • Use Create new folder to add a folder and then select it.

Documents you upload will appear in the chosen folder (or the main inbox if you leave it as optional).

Split PDFs during upload

For large PDFs you want to treat as separate documents (e.g. one PDF with many invoices), use the PDF split dropdown in the upload drawer:

  • No PDF split – Each file stays as one document (default).
  • Split PDF (use parser settings) – Uses the split rules from Parser Settings → Split Documents. Only shown if split is enabled for the parser.
  • Split PDF every X pages – Split into multiple documents every X pages. Enter the number (e.g. 5) in the every … pages per document field.
  • Split PDF at page ranges – Split at specific pages. Use the same format as in Parser Settings (e.g. 1, 2-(1), 5-10).

Split options apply only to PDF files. Other file types are not split.

Uploading multiple files

You can select many files at once (or drop them together). Each file is processed as its own document. You can upload up to 500 files in a single batch, with a 300 MB total size limit. Larger batches are automatically queued and processed in the background so you don't have to wait on the page. Processing usually takes a few seconds per page.

During and after upload

  • While uploading: The drawer shows the files you added. You can click a file to open it once it’s processed.
  • When done: Close the drawer. New documents appear in the document list (left) and in the data table (right). Click a document or a table row to open the split view (original file | extracted data) and edit values.

Tips

  • Use folders to separate documents by client, project, or month.
  • Use split when one PDF contains many distinct documents (e.g. batch invoices) so each can be reviewed and exported separately.
  • If credits run low, you’ll see a message. Top up via your team’s billing settings.
